Why not start by watching some recordings of our events or reading our blogs? We host semi-regular discussion groups and social events, which are a great way to discover what we are about and what might interest you.
We’re looking for the following people:
Events Co-Lead
Time commitment: ~2 hours/month
Help curate and deliver our speaker events. You might find and invite speakers, shape panel themes, or chair sessions. You don’t need to know famous people – just be curious and organised.
Why this matters: You shape what the network talks about and bring diverse ideas into the open.
Discussion Group Facilitator
Time commitment: ~1 hour/month plus preparation
Lead a small monthly discussion group. Choose a theme, share a short reading or prompt, and guide the conversation. You don’t need to be an expert – just willing to listen and keep the discussion flowing.
Why this matters: You help create a space where different perspectives on economics are heard and respected.
Blog Editor or Contributor
Time commitment: Ad hoc (one-off or ongoing)
As a contributor, write short blogs on questions or ideas that matter to you. As an editor, help others develop their voice. We offer support if you’re new to this.
Why this matters: You provoke reflection and invite others into the conversation.
Socials Organiser
Time commitment: ~1 hour/month
Plan informal gatherings – walks, lunches, pub chats. Keep it simple and shape it around what you’d enjoy.
Why this matters: Ideas need trust and friendship to travel.
Collaborations and Outreach Lead
Time commitment: ~1-2 hours/month
Spot opportunities to link up with other civil service networks or external thinkers. Help us build connections and work alongside others doing interesting work.
Why this matters: You expand our reach and make sure we’re not an echo chamber.
General Committee Member
Time commitment: ~1hr/month
